The success story continues: from 8 to 9 November, the 7th Bangladesh Denim Expo again demonstrated its central importance for the international denim community. New records in the number of exhibitors prove this as well as the quality of the exhibitors: For the first time the largest four denim producers from Bangladesh – Pacific Jeans, Ananta, Bitopi and Dekko – presented their offers at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.
Atotal of 65 exhibitors from 12 countrie joined the international denim show, presenting new denim collections,
technologies and services. They were coming from the home market of Bangladesh as well as from India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, and Vietnam. The expanded roster of exhibitors from Bangladesh drew a specific focus on Bangladesh industry to reinforce strategic partnerships. Over 5123 visitors and buyers from 1015 companies and 51 countries followed their invitation to the fair. The overall motto of the event was transparency this time, highlighting the need for more transparency within the entire denim supply chain and how to achieve it. Several denim mills and factories from Bangladesh presented their solutions and progresses they already made. Transparency was discussed throughout many activities and programs at the fair: it was presented at a Transparency Wall, with a virtual tour of transparent manufacturing,
outfits made transparently were displayed, the expanded Trend Zone area addressed the topic etc. With the slogan «Transparency» and a focus on local denim production, the 7th Bangladesh Denim Expo further developed the idea of the “denim network”, which was the leitmotif of the last event in May 2017. The 6th Bangladesh Denim Expo promoted a series of trend seminars, best practice workshops and presentations with renowned experts of the denim industry. Piero Turk, world renowned designer and denim expert, held lectures with Alice Tonello, R&D manager at Tonello Garment Finishing. Also participating in the show’s informative sessions was Marco Nava, global sales director at Garmon Chemicals. To support the personal exchange with others, the ‘Trend Zone’
area has been expanded by incorporating a new ‘Information Exchange Zone’ to offer insights on denim fabrics, styling and finishing in Bangladesh. Moreover, the 6th Bangladesh Denim Expo hosted the first “Sustainable Apparel Forum”.
